Much of what we do in life we do without knowing why. Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy can help when things go wrong and you find yourself in yet another mental cul-de-sac. Sometimes life seems full of wrong turns and troubled relationships and you wonder ‘why me?’ I can help you explore your deeper unconscious motivations and work with you to find a new way forward. It may not feel like it right now, but life can get better.
More than just a little chat
There is a growing body of evidence that shows counselling is effective at treating a range of mental health issues More information at BACP
I offer counselling in a calm, supportive environment for the times in life when you just need someone to come alongside you while you live through a period of sadness or loss.
This may be the death of someone you love, redundancy, the break- up of a relationship or simply the everyday anxieties of growing up or getting by in a competitive world.
Through all this I can provide a reassuring presence when you are troubled by tensions that are hard to share with family or friends.
Experience, Qualifications and Services
I began my training in counselling skills 30 years ago as a volunteer with central London Samaritans. Subsequently I volunteered for various mental health charities, including MIND, Barnado’s Support4Parents scheme and local low cost counselling services. In this field I have worked with clients with some challenging and sometimes anxiety-provoking clinical ‘labels’ such as Personality Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder and ASD. For the past 7 years I have also been involved with Child Bereavement UK supporting both adults and children who are coping with the death of someone important to them.
My formal training was initially in Psychology and Arts at Leicester University.
I subsequently gained a Post Graduate Diploma and Masters Degree in Psychodynamic Practice at the University of Oxford.
I am a member of the BACP Accredited Register and am personally Accredited by the UKCP and also have Enhanced DBS clearance in line with my work for counselling charities
